The nationally acclaimed University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band, "The Power and Class of New England", will kick-off the 2002 Topsfield Fair on Saturday, October 5, 2002.

The 300-member band will march in the opening day parade, which kicks off at the Topsfield Common at 9:00 AM and ends at the Fairgrounds on Route One. The Band will perform its stirring rendition of "God Bless the USA" during the opening ceremonies at 10:00 AM. The Band will also perform selections from its 2002 field show in the Topsfield Fair Arena at 2:00 PM.

In honor of the appearance of the Minuteman Marching Band, the Topsfield Fair has agreed to give Umass alumni, parents and students a $5.00 discount on their fair admission. The normal weekend rate is $10.00. In addition, ride tickets for the Topsfield Fair Midway can be purchased at a cost of six rides for $5.00. This is a discount of more than 60%. Phone orders must be placed by October 2, 2002.
